The authenticity of the Shroud of Turin, believed to have been the burial shroud wrapped around the body of Jesus Christ, was tested again recently by yet another novel method to date its age. The results were consistent with four other approaches used over the years showing the cloth did date from 2000 years ago. A radiocarbon dating done in the 1988 which placed the age of the Shroud to be between the years 1260-1390, has since been questioned because the piece of the Shroud examined was from an edge containing a patch interwoven to repair damage from a fire at the cathedral where the shroud was being stored during those years. It seems remarkable that a repeat radiocarbon dating has not been done given the strong evidence calling the first result into question.
