When one does a study of some of the most effective salespeople, one often encounters a mixed bag of ethically questionable tactics. One extremely successful car salesman would sit down with a phone book, call people and tell them their new car was ready for pickup. When people inevitably said, “I didn’t order a car,” he would profusely apologize and then immediately segue into asking them if they were at all in the market for a new car. With this approach, he made a fortune and set the world record at the time for most non-fleet sales made by a car salesman “one customer at a time.” Now to his credit, he was extremely likable, attentive, thorough, and did great customer service, sent birthday cards to his customers, etc. Nevertheless, a lot of his success was predicated on a lie and deception. What is Creator’s perspective?

In reference to the above car salesman’s success, he was successful because he was good at “cold calling” which most people have a deep aversion to. Cold calling is one of the most obvious breaches of the “Golden Rule” there is. Almost everyone HATES getting cold calls, and yet most successful salespeople will assert that you need to do it in order to be successful. Brian remembers one “boiler room” telephone canvasser who bragged how she abused anyone cold calling her but had no problem doing cold calling for a living. The stark hypocrisy was dramatic and utterly remorseless and unapologetic. She literally thought it was “hilarious” and laughed about it. Brian found it disturbing, to say the least. What is Creator’s perspective?

Cold calling works precisely because so many people have an aversion to doing it. That alone makes it a successful strategy for those who can bring themselves to do it. Brian did sales in the late 80s and struggled with this dilemma. A rule of thumb is it takes 10 calls to get a lead, 10 leads to get an appointment, and 10 appointments to get a sale. Brian demonstrated to himself that, indeed, the formula works and managed to get a house listing as a result. But rather than being encouraged by his success, he was so overcome with guilt about disturbing people eating dinner that he eventually abandoned sales as a career altogether. Cold calling cannot work if everyone does it. Everyone’s phone would ring all day long and it would be utterly chaotic and untenable. There is the idea that, if “everyone” can’t, then maybe no one “should?” What is Creator’s perspective?

Another successful sales guru made a fortune selling heavy stainless steel cookware door to door. (A direct form of cold calling that predates the telephone). He frequently recounted one sale he made where the woman initially slammed the front door on him and, in response, he went around to the back door to apologize for knocking on the front door. He was so charming and disarming, that the woman felt bad about mistreating him and consented to listening to his presentation as a way to make amends. She ended up buying the very expensive cookware he was selling. We are confronted with the dilemma of his apology being “insincere,” because he certainly felt no remorse about knocking on her front door at all, much less her back door after she made it clear she didn’t want to interact with him. What is Creator’s perspective on this anecdote, and what positive and negative divine lessons can we learn from it?

“Breaking the ice” is a phrase in common usage. The online Free Dictionary defines the term this way: “To do something as a means of reducing or eliminating shyness, awkward tension, or unfamiliarity.” So much of persuasion founders on this “iceberg” that the term is quite an ingenious summation of a common problem requiring great skill to master. When someone knows or learns how to “break the ice” effectively, the world is literally their oyster. Prior to the recent agreement to withdraw after the Disclosure Event and take a break from their endless manipulations of our planet and everything on it, has it been a kind of free-for-all, where many individuals can come and take a turn, perhaps competing amongst their brethren to see who can be most clever, most destructive, most innovative, and so on? Or is there an agreed on main agenda where all must follow an approved set of guidelines and goals? There have been at least a couple major motion pictures having a futuristic theme where people can use an advanced technology to journey to an artificial world and adopt a persona to have lifelike experiences for fun and relaxation, or challenge and excitement. One was Westworld, depicting people going back to the old West to take on gunslingers, and more recently, the movie Total Recall, where people could pay to have a vacation in their mind that was totally lifelike. Both movies showed a dark side in having an unexpected blending with reality. This was also a theme used many times in the Star Trek franchise, in having spaceships with a Holodeck that future explorers could visit during long voyages as a lifelike experiencing of other worlds and plotlines for fun and learning opportunities. Are these a kind of inversion of what the extraterrestrials do in visiting our world, coming to participate as observers who can manipulate us, in reality, to act out their fantasies and darkest thoughts for amusement and gratification, but without taking any risk themselves?

Critics of the notion of having a genuine destiny would simply point out the apparent randomness of life events. But to say this argument is weak is a massive understatement. What is the interloper position on destiny? Do they reject it entirely and think humans are immensely silly for entertaining the very notion? Don’t the interlopers in saner moments ever recognize that randomness is actually an exceptionally poor explanation for something like the Lions’ abrupt turnaround, even as they continue the targeting against the Lions? In the study of warfare, it is asserted that most battles are won or lost before the first shot is fired. In other words, planning and anticipating all the needs of an army in battle will ensure victory far more than whatever actually happens on the battlefield spontaneously. Taking on a spiraling karmic dilemma aggravated by active targeting done by invisible interlopers seems a truly daunting problem to solve. In order to take this on, it seems like a lot of planning and preparation back in the light was needed. Was this planning and preparation, again, itself a karmic response, or was it a divine response to a karmic dilemma that was no longer manageable by the participants in the physical? Again, does karma itself engineer the solutions, or does the divine, or is there interplay? What can Creator tell us?

Does karma negotiate solutions with the divine? What’s involved in unlocking compensatory karma? So many of us are unwitting participants in the karmic drama in the physical, but back in the light, were we witting participants, at least in terms of planning and preparation? Does karma simply control the flow of energy like water follows gravity, but not to the extent of creating an aqueduct, so it’s not up to water and gravity to build the aqueducts, but up to us through trial and error? Is that a useful analogy at all? Does karma do its own thing until we intervene in a committed way? What can Creator tell us?
