There is growing criticism of the California politicians in the wake of the massive wildfires underway, from what are seen as poor decisions: Reducing the LA Fire Department budget by $17,000,000 and sending city firefighting equipment to Ukraine; ending forestry management practices to remove underbrush and do controlled burns to lower the proven hazard of dry spells; destruction of four dams in major rivers out of deference to fish populations which lets the water flow into the sea instead of being captured in reservoirs; failure to build new reservoirs that were budgeted for a decade ago; failure to keep existing reservoirs filled so firefighters have run out of water while current wildfires are raging uncontrolled; putting a cap on fire insurance policy costs, causing insurers to pull out leaving many homeowners with total losses; etc. Are these overly harsh criticisms, do they reflect incompetence of leadership, or is everyone being manipulated to make errors in judgment by leadership and others to ignore being vulnerable?

The Pacific Palisades wildfire, driven by high Santa Ana winds, caused an evacuation order for 30,000 Los Angeles area residents on Jan. 7th, 2025, the second major fire in a month. Then, the Eaton Fire, which started about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday north of Pasadena in the Altadena area, exploded in size to 16.6 square miles by late Wednesday morning, according to fire officials with an evacuation order for 50,000 residents. The Hurst Fire started about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday and prompted evacuations in Sylmar, a San Fernando Valley community in the northernmost neighborhood in Los Angeles. That fire had grown to nearly a square mile by early Wednesday. By Thursday, at least five fires were burning covering more than 45 square miles, sparked by dry conditions and powerful winds, causing unprecedented scenes in areas not known for fires, with 179,000 people forced to flee, and thousands of structures lost. Each fire has had wind gusts from 85-100 miles per hour. What is causing these fires?

A viewer asks: “I’m in need of some urgent insights into my current pregnancy. I’m almost 7 months pregnant. Everything went well so far. However, last Friday I visited my gynecologist and he did a quick ultrasound. He noticed that my placenta was blocking my cervix which is called “placenta previa.” He is going to do a more profound echography in two weeks to check again. If this is the case, I will need to have a c-section which is not something I look forward to. The biggest risk factor with placenta previa is sudden bleeding from the vagina in the second part of pregnancy. Bleeding may be severe and life threatening. I feel vulnerable and stressed. Last night I dreamed I had blood loss. This is probably just fear-based. At the beginning of my pregnancy, I also experienced blood loss. It looked like a miscarriage but everything was well with the baby. A “psychic” woman told me I had a twin but it was never the intention of the “other” soul to be born. This soul only wanted to experience a brief time in the physical to complete some cycles. If I’m having placenta previa, what is the true cause for this? Am I in danger of life threatening complications?” What can we tell her?
