When swimmers approach a pool they will often test the water with their toes to determine its temperature, which may alter their plans. When the surface, conscious self contemplates a new course of action, the deep subconscious attempts to gauge its riskiness by examining the akashic record (unbeknownst to the conscious self) to look for danger signs, in the form of trauma similar courses actions have generated.
