A practitioner asks: “Dear Source Creator, I have a new symptom and I’m not sure if it’s part of the antiviral detox process or not. About 4 times last month, after I ate a meal, I started to feel “high” and couldn’t function normally. My perception was distorted, my face was tingly, my mouth got so dry that I couldn’t swallow any saliva, couldn’t drive my car, or focus on anything because of how “high” I felt. It lasts about 5 hours and is practically incapacitating. At first, I thought it was a food reaction but they were foods I have eaten before. Is this another detox symptom, and if not, what can I do to prevent this from happening? Online it says possibilities are hypoglycemia, diabetes, food allergy, and others.” What can we tell her?

There is a clinical investigation reporting that metformin causes a decline in renal function of patients with Type 2 diabetes. It is well-established from prior studies that metformin in diabetics with chronic kidney disease can have life-threatening lactic acidosis, but that is assumed to be the result of an extreme build-up of metformin in the kidney as a result of the kidney disease preventing excretion of the drug. Is that a kind of misleading assumption, almost a red herring, that is actually a warning pointing to nephrotoxic potential of metformin with low-level exposure, as well as having a body-wide metabolic threat at higher concentrations?
