DWQA QuestionsCategory: Problems in SocietyWhen we look at all of creation, we observe how much Creator values non-conformity. Every snowflake is unique, every grain of sand. Yet the dominant characteristic of the suburb is its stultifying conformity. One of the “outcomes” of suburban living is the widely observed phenomenon of “keeping up with the Joneses.” How much of this is repressed creativity wanting recognition, and how much is it a pursuit of power obsession that reveals the influence of the interlopers?

You are seeing the end result of a mixed set of motivations and circumstances, and often what happens is a kind of homogenized dilution of individual creativity and ingenuity through the demands of the governance imposing housing ordinances and standards that enforce the conformity you speak of. But this is, again, an attempt to avoid a disastrous situation from troublemakers who would not value the rights of their nearest neighbors and might allow their own property to degrade through neglect and even abuse, through accumulation of trash, even to a dangerous degree, as well as potential unsanitary conditions with inadequate attention to garbage disposal, and so on. There are practical consequences in the threat to property values from such conduct, so there is discernible harm to others through allowing unbridled freedom to every citizen. Time and again people have turned to the law to help establish ground rules and this system has worked well—it is a kind of sharing after all that is divine. Where the rights and needs of others are respected equally to one’s own, that creates a natural balance that works beautifully in allowing all to thrive and feel safe and accepted, living together in a community. That is an ideal that would be natural for humanity across the board in a world free of evil, but that is not the world you live within. Your world is filled with evil and run by evil beings, and there is a constant effort underway at all times to degrade things and to ramp up the influence of evil in all respects. In a very real sense, the need for laws to begin with is a human response to the reality of evil in your midst, and without that corruption there would be little need for laws of any kind.
