He is correct there is a medicinal benefit, and while it is modest, that may be all that is necessary for some infected individuals to have a gentler course of illness with quicker recovery, and will keep some from getting into serious and life-threatening severity. So anything that has benefits is worth using when faced with such a circumstance.
