DWQA QuestionsCategory: Subconscious MindWhat is the purpose of the division between conscious and subconscious levels of the mind, and is there an ideal degree of separation?

The purpose of the differing levels of the mind is the reflection of the unique experience of the physical human in being in an animal body in the high density of earth plane, as opposed to a light being. And the difference for light beings is they are energy that is highly malleable and can be expressed in myriad ways, and all parts of the being are accessible and have an interplay with one another, and even through multiple extensions of the being to serve functions and roles simultaneously in many dimensions, as well as time domains. So, compared to this, the physical human is a quite limited expression, but the importance of levels of the mind relates to the difference of functioning in needs of the person. The subconscious, as you know, runs the physical body and is the gateway to higher realms and the higher self as well, being the most important and closest contact for each person. The need to connect is dependent on what is desired in the moment. Most human physical experiences do not need high-level help and so the connections and pathways to the higher realms are simply not needed to be in the forefront. Having a separate processing apparatus serves to divide the functions in a neat way that preserves some autonomy and some clarity and freedom to not have distractions or inappropriate demands for attention going on at critical moments. This is a level of awareness rather than the presence or absence of the various levels. There is a dynamic change in the way that the current level of mind gaining predominance comes into awareness and exerts control, whereas the other takes the back seat, so to speak. There are many times and examples we can point to here, the importance of the subconscious for automaticity of motor function, for example, in sports or a task such as driving a car where the individual has developed such a comfort level they hardly think about driving, and how they need to move the hands to and fro, and work the pedals to speed up or slow down, and react as well to settle things that develop in the field of view to cause them to speed up, slow down, come to a stop, look for signposts that their goal is nearing and so forth. This is true of many human activities that can be relegated to subconscious monitoring and control. In large part, the critical thinking and decision-making for which the person is most aware take place within the conscious self and the assumed identity, and are the deliberate choices made during life for things to take place and tasks to be launched. There is much here that can be motivated by the subconscious, but it is the conscious mind that has the final say and will launch the action or suppress the impulse to do so. This interplay and exchanging of roles becomes quite fluid early in life, particularly with more development of language and the linear thought using words. This makes the conscious mind strengthen and become more dominant. This has some advantages for communication using language, but at the expense of putting the automaticity and spontaneity more on the back burner, and so the creative potential of the mind becomes secondary and will languish to some extent and may not reach anywhere near its full potential for expression. It is the artists and musicians who can save it from oblivion in this way and benefit from a reliance on the subconscious during a period of conscious awareness, or when there should be, by reason, more robust conscious awareness, but during which the subconscious is really given the reins, and this allows the artistic work to reach its highest level. So, these are the purposes for the levels of the mind and some insight about how they operate and interchange in their duties. The separation is not normal and the deep suppression often present for many people is, in particular, a liability, because this separates them from a very significant arena where much difficulty and stress are experienced. And the reaction to the negativity being brought into the current life perspective and going onto the radar screen, so to speak, takes a toll on the person and can distort their life experience in major ways, by throwing them off balance and rendering them even quite impaired through extreme anxiety. This is an area very much needing repair.
