DWQA QuestionsCategory: Coronavirus COVID-19A client writes: “Sorry to bother you but I’m just checking in regarding my status. I lost my smell this evening, which worries me. That is supposed to be one of the early symptoms of COVID-19. I don’t want this to go to my lungs. What can I do?”

This, indeed, is one of the early symptoms of infection. This is a consequence of tissue perturbation that has already been brewing for a time and now the consequences are becoming evident and perceived through your senses. In a sense, the symptoms of illness lag the actual infection course, and even after organisms are cleared from the body, the symptoms can even worsen for a time and be slow to disappear. That is because of a combination of the ramped up immune response and the persistence of tissue damage that will continue to be the scene of the battle for a time, even after the invaders have been conquered. So there is no reason to give in to fear here. There will simply be a cycle of symptoms and sensations for a while that must run their course. It is much easier to remove the organisms, which do not belong within the human body, than it is to change what the human body is doing in response to their presence, because that is a kind of free will choice of the human to deal with its environment, and we cannot override its decisions unilaterally. The healing work is ongoing, and it is good to maintain prayer work as well in parallel to keep things on track for your betterment, and this will pass.
