A practitioner asks: “Don’t we need a certain amount of faith, which is often driven by a strong feeling or emotion, in order to channel successfully?”

We would say that the purpose of and value of having a strong feeling or emotion is adding the fuel of a strong intention to the task at hand. But still, faith will be involved and a necessary ingredient, for without that, passion has nowhere to go that will bring any meaning because it will be disconnected from reality of what can be done. The two will be mutually reinforcing, and that is where each has its place, faith and a strong feeling and emotion of inner conviction, to carry out an exercise with a divine purpose. Belief is a requisite to enable a divine response to any request. Desire alone will not bring things about in the absence of belief, both in the divine and in oneself.
