You are seeing the truth of things here, that this is a bit of a magnified view in touting the compilation of these seven forms of magnesium. On the other hand, as you well know, magnesium deficiency is commonplace and a serious issue for many who have no idea their body is working in a subpar fashion for want of that mineral in a bioactive form at key sites in the body, as magnesium plays many roles for the working biochemistry of the life process. So, however magnesium can be delivered effectively and in a bioavailable form, it becomes a worthwhile endeavor by definition whether or not the precise details are somewhat exaggerated with respect to necessity. But as you suspect, the body, in taking up magnesium to begin with, reuses magnesium through chemical modification over and over and over again. So one atom of magnesium can undergo many changes to become dance partners, in effect, with other chemical constituents in the body. This is the working reality they are attempting to piggyback on by providing an array of different chemical forms in the supplement. But, as you rightly point out, that does not mean necessary chemical combinations will not take place as needed within the body if a single adequate amount of raw magnesium gets absorbed initially. So, this is something to probe into further—what constitutes a safe but effective dose for the majority of people and in what chemical form to be suitably bioavailable, and the necessity of a dietary adjunct to aid absorption.
