DWQA QuestionsCategory: Coronavirus COVID-19Can chlorine dioxide work effectively against COVID-19 infection when given orally? What is the mechanism of action against this illness?
Nicola Staff asked 3 years ago
Chlorine dioxide will work orally as well as intravenously. So in patients who are conscious, it will be a simple matter to start a regimen going and support someone during the course of their illness with no fancy technologies needed, and is ideal for administration at home. This has some antiviral activity, but is truly affecting the red cell and hemoglobin, both, in reducing incidence of coagulation and abnormal changes to the heme complex making up the effective component for oxygen transport by the red blood cell. So this addresses multiple liabilities posed by COVID-19 and helps each of them to some degree. Its potential benefits and its general safety make this a compelling adjunct for therapy of this condition. Whether this will be supported or its use suppressed remains to be seen.
