As you saw intuitively, this was a test run by the Extraterrestrial Alliance as an experiment in causing a mysterious and difficult to diagnose power outage with a Navy warship. This is a capability that might be utilized in the future to confuse and confound the military and heighten tensions as fingers get pointed towards a geopolitical foe as a possible culprit. And eventually, it is not impossible that a widespread crippling of military forces through widescale power outages could be used as a demonstration of the helplessness of humanity and ineffectiveness of human defenses.
