The purpose originally was to provide a base of operations for extraterrestrials who were acting as gods from the sky to rule over and manipulate the human beings of that era. As such, there is nothing in the ruins themselves that provides enough information and specific starting points to discern anything useful about how they operated and their agenda. But like all physical extraterrestrials who have visited the Earth, the purpose was sinister and totally self-serving. That is why the legacy has not lived on, they have never come to do anything useful, only to take things for themselves, and move on, and cause misery and suffering while they are here. They have come and gone from many areas of the world and persist to the present moment behind the scenes still running things, and that is why the world is in a sorry state. So there is nothing magical and worthy of emulation in the historical presence or involvement of extraterrestrial beings. The world has been worse off ever since they first arrived on the scene.
