DWQA QuestionsCategory: Divinely Inspired MessengersThe song by Carole King, titled “You’ve Got a Friend,” seems almost like a hymn promising divine caring and assistance. Was she inspired by you to write it?

Indeed, your intuition is serving you beautifully. She was inspired to write this song, thinking about the issue of love and friendship as being a high calling and of high value to the recipient, but this was because of divine inspiration and guidance to do so, knowing that this would serve many listeners in many differing ways. It is divine to give love, it is also divine to receive love, so both are to be exalted, praised, and cherished when one can experience them. We especially wanted to have our energy in the execution of this song and presentation of the lyrics with the musical format and accompaniment for maximum emotional impact. That is the beauty and virtue of music, and song especially, because it can convey direct messages of many kinds, and highly effectively. If you think of the big picture, whenever love is out and about being exchanged and experienced, it is traceable back to us because we are the origin of every bit of love humans convey to others or to nourish the self. Many love songs are considered strictly secular but this is a human-level perspective. We know why love exists and why it is present in human affairs and it has a much deeper meaning and significance than simple romantic love and, in this case, simply having a friend, not explicitly a lover one hopes to live with and share life with totally, but just someone who is loyal, steadfast, and available to come to a person’s aid and give them extra support and nurturing. That is the mark of a true friend indeed, but all such exhibitions of love, as we have said, represent divine energy on the march and we have a hand in it, whether humans are aware of this or not. But we do attach our signature to this performance and to the lyrics and, indeed, to anyone who creates their own version through performance, we will be there to inspire the listener to draw the greatest possible meaning and benefit from experiencing the song as a source of inspiration and upliftment.
