Was this black mist blocking view of Christmas tree an incidental effect of the spirit presence or a knowing and purposeful manipulation, perhaps to get attention?

This was not a willful and knowledgeable awareness there was a Christmas tree in the corner that people would be looking at, so that showing up in front of it might get them noticed. It is more the opposite. They, themselves, were drawn to the energy of the tree and sensing it and were idly circling it not knowing what else to do or where else to go, because from their perspective there is some kind of energy at the center of their circle, but beyond that appears to be only a vast dark void. This is what keeps spirits trapped in a location. Many will hesitate before moving into what appears to be nothingness, a vast abyss.
