DWQA QuestionsCategory: Subconscious MindWhy do people dream, and what is the mechanism of dream creation?

Dream is the playground of the subconscious mind when it is allowed to create on its own and create various fantasies that are personally satisfying to the individual in that level of their awareness and thought. Being a deep level of the mind that is more about emotion than facts and figures, it is often material that is fanciful, or has illogical, or even seemingly irrational elements. The plots may make little sense or be illogical. That is of little concern to the subconscious, which is not an analytical thinker to begin with, so the dreams themselves are often bizarre and confusing. This is one of the limitations in doing dream analysis, that the very subject matter of dreams themselves has little basis in reality many times, and while it may be a kind of bellwether of the current state of being on the subconscious level that is a portion of the person, and that the purpose of the dream may be little more than self-rumination and a type of recreational experience, without great portent regarding the current status of things, let alone the future, as is often presumed. Dreams are of value in providing an outlet for the emotional issues confronting the subconscious mind. So, they may well represent inner torment and, in this, they are more accurate. So, the nightmares in particular, are likely to reflect ongoing circumstances troubling the mind. They may well reflect past life events and the dreams may be very detailed recountings. They may incorporate the events within the akashic records directly, depending on how the person is processing their awareness of these past circumstances. When there is a triggering that brings up particular periods in their history, the dreams will reflect this, and those can be of value in gaining some perspective about what the person is going through, within that deep level of the mind, and the particular past circumstances, or to be more accurate, the parallel life circumstances, most needing healing attention. This is unlikely to be a useful proactive strategy because most people have very uneven recall of their dreams. So, there will be many gaps and many, many holes in the information available for taking action. So, it is not a reliable guide for doing any kind of treatment other than whatever is in the dream likely has some inner significance to the person, and may be an avenue that is fruitful to explore. Dreams are very much an outlet for emotional excess, and allow a working through of strategies and ways of coping, and sometimes history is rewritten with a resolution that is very akin to what you apply purposefully, with Holographic Memory Resolution, to use guided imagery as a way to connect to a memory of something in the past, and then reframe it, by choosing a differing scenario and strategy to make what happened acceptable, in some way, to neutralize its original negativity. This, as you have seen many, many times, has tremendous self-healing capability for the client. People use their dream state to do self-healing through these mechanisms and this is a natural way people can accomplish things. This is its greatest benefit to the individual—that it is possible to do maintenance and help their own survival through healing emotional wounds in an effective fashion. It is just unfortunate that the subconscious cannot keep up with all the things bombarding it. And, because it is not coached and directed to connect to things, in particular, will not be able to proceed in a logical, systematic way to cover all of the situations needed to deal with a particular dilemma of magnitude affecting the person’s life. This is because of the need to react to events and is constantly being redirected from the executive level to deal with many, many issues during the day, and then there is a mass of material to process at night, to categorize the memories, store them away, and give them emotional significance and meaning by assigning the attendant energies that were experienced during the waking experiences themselves. But there is significant ongoing healing that is accomplished through this natural mechanism. It also corresponds and points to the validity of the Holographic Memory Resolution process being very akin to the way the mind works, and the way it can heal itself when it takes on a problem in a deliberate way and works through it systematically to find a way to set things right. This is best facilitated by an outside party guiding the subconscious through a specific sequence of steps, as you do in your sessions for healing work, but is the best the subconscious can do on its own, and at least the process is there and helps many people to varying degrees.
