We see these as being essentially comparable in their benefit for chronic users and we do agree with the consensus estimate of xylitol gum having beneficial protective effects in reducing plaque formation, and then the subsequent appearance of tooth decay and gum disease. We see this is worth doing given the modest expense, for those who enjoy frequent gum chewing, as multiple uses per day will give the best chance of seeing a benefit worth the investment. Using one of these gum products three times a day will produce a significant benefit and five times a day will be better for some. As you can imagine, there are many individual variables, like length of chewing time, degree of salvation that dilutes the xylitol and in effect flushes it away, and so on, which will be factors in who benefits and to what degree.
