So having a diagnosis is simply putting a label on something that is often very complicated and a combination of influences converging, and that can include genetic susceptibility making the central nervous system fragile in some respect, so a person is more likely to show an injury from a buildup of toxic materials, for example. Having a correlation of behavioral changes with genetic history is, first of all, not proof of causality. There can be other reasons for such a trait to be present within a family, including the spread of a chronic viral infection of the central nervous system.
