In human society, the family is the central focus of most humans. Even in dysfunctional families, blood ties still mean something. For billions of humans, especially dedicated homemakers, the family will absorb 80 to 90% of their time and effort. Whether it’s caring for children, taking care of aging parents, doting on a spouse, planning the next family reunion, Thanksgiving dinner, or a family vacation, the family is central and, for some, almost all-consuming.
