DWQA QuestionsCategory: Divine GuidanceA practitioner asks: “Creator says killing is wrong and to avoid killing another if possible. Why do we have to kill animals to survive? Does this come from interloper manipulation? Or is the idea of killing to survive an intentional plan? Is there a better way to survive? I’m thinking that with the plans coming up, we’ll have to become more self-sufficient. I can see that raising our own food would be a healthier source of food. However, I don’t think I would have the heart to kill an animal. Is there an easier way to have meat without killing? For example, could I ask an animal to give themselves up, then wake up the next morning to a dead animal ready to be processed for consumption? This sounds crazy but it came to mind and I’m wondering if it’s possible.” What is Creator’s perspective?

The bottom line here is your desire is more wishful thinking than what is possible being present in the physical and subject to the constraints of physical existence which entail providing for food, clothing, and shelter, etcetera, given your vulnerability to the environment and the need to sustain the physical needs of the body you inhabit. You will need to take action to get sustenance for continued health and well-being of the body. We cannot send a care package and ring your doorbell on a regular basis to provide food, including meat as one of the healthiest kinds of food. But keep in mind, even plants are living things that have to be killed in the process of harvesting. We have said before, this is part of the design of nature and all beings are a part of a kind of built-in agreement to play the role they take. Many organisms are here to be food for others, and this is not an intrusion or violation working against their nature as long as there is not frank abuse in mistreatment but humane killing, at least as best one can do. That might still offend your sensibilities but animals are largely unaware of their fate and, when that moment of death comes, it is a surprise and only a very brief experiencing, of a blow usually, that is extinguished with loss of consciousness. Animals do not worry about how long they will live, that is a human perspective and, in our view, an oversensitivity.
