These observed associations made by the medical community are not simply a coincidence or a direct effect of thyroid hormone imbalance per se, but, indeed, are reflecting a more widely disseminated viral presence, potentially in multiple tissues and cells in various organs and sites within the body, all of which can trigger the immune system and result in local abnormalities and impairment of function.
