As you were seeing intuitively, this was a disaster in the making that was only avoided through the most unlikely of circumstances—a temporary malfunction of her own automobile that miraculously kept her out of harm’s way when she would otherwise have been hit directly by the other vehicle coming at high speed and would have been imperiled. This was divine grace bestowed to her for acts of kindness she has given to others and is independent of any perceptions you might have about her abilities or shortcomings. Karma works its magic quite precisely and that is how people's actions are rewarded or, in effect, returned to them to experience in a negative way themselves. In this case, there was an alignment of karmic energies of a positive kind with divine awareness, because of her guardians, that a disaster was about to befall her, and as it was not her time yet to exit, a full avoidance of any difficulty was arranged to keep her totally safe. There could have been a partial rescue, where she lost her automobile but escaped with minor injuries. She could also have escaped with major, or even life-impairing injuries but still survived. In this case, she received a full blessing of avoiding the consequences entirely, of this accident due to happen because of her travel that day putting her at risk. She does have an inner awareness of the divine and this is an asset, and if cultivated will give her many additional blessings.
