DWQA QuestionsCategory: Coronavirus COVID-19A viewer asks: “Source Creator, Is it true that the dissolution of chlorine dioxide gas in water, as formulated by Jim Humble, obtained by mixing sodium chlorite with an organic acid, in the proportions indicated by him, can eliminate the malaria parasite in a single day, and is effective as an antibacterial and antifungal, without harming the cells of the body due to its low oxidation potential, and can dissolve tumors by apoptosis of cancer cells, and perhaps help against the spread of coronavirus by denaturing the virus capsids?”

This substance has the potential to do all those things. The key issue is its effectiveness in a clinical setting in order to achieve the necessary blood and tissue levels to produce any or all of these potential benefits. That will be highly variable and will be difficult to manage and control. There can be problems with excess exposure, so choice of dose level and frequency will be the major concern here and that will be difficult to arrange without a carefully controlled clinical trial which is quite unlikely to happen. There are many such would-be treatments and nostrums that have potential, but will not have a financial sponsor and without clinical data, will never be embraced or recommended by physicians. So people will be wholly on their own and so while well-meaning, such approaches are quite problematic because the layperson is ill-equipped to understand all the issues involved and to what extent there is a safety margin let alone possible efficacy of the substance being promoted. We do not like discouraging human initiative, but we also have a karmic responsibility to not encourage people to be reckless in the pursuit of a dream simply because there is some truth to it albeit with many caveats. That is the case here, so we think there will be more accessible and better supported strategies with respect to being studied seriously and with a follow up to ensure things are safe as well as effective.
