DWQA QuestionsCategory: Channeling PitfallsIn our ongoing quest to help people cultivate a belief in the divine, we have explored a number of books that present scientific evidence for psychic abilities, mediumship, and the reality of life after the death of the physical body. Is belief in the continuation of consciousness beyond the death of the physical body an important and helpful prerequisite to a belief in a Creator who matters? Beyond mere curiosity, what use is there for a belief in a Creator who is not available, who cannot be appealed to, and who cannot be counted on to influence one’s life in any discernable fashion?

This is certainly a human-level question. The reality is everything depends on us, so whether or not you perceive our existence or believe we are real, you nonetheless depend on us for everything you are and everything you experience, like it or not. Your question is an important one because it speaks to the need for more, the yearning for more within every human heart, and that is because you are indeed a living, breathing extension of our consciousness in human form but a part of us still—that defines everything in a new way. When people deny this, they are denying reality and giving in to the illusion of human limitation, creating the expectation that only what one sees with the ordinary senses can be real, when there is much beyond your reach that is important, not only defining your reason for existence but your very makeup and your potential in all that you can do and be and become. That is the great reward in cultivating faith and belief in us and moving to a more meaningful relationship, not one of merely puzzling over the seeming absence of evidence for God and one's seeming isolation and disconnection from us, but knowing there is the possibility of a more intimate relationship with some give and take. That will require developing a new perspective and growing one's senses to encompass a wider array of experiences that are possible to some degree for everyone, via the higher self as an intermediary, bringing into your thoughts an outreach from the divine to give you insights and the possibility of growth through our input, directly. The way to do this is to begin asking questions and asking for support directly, and then watch what happens, look for signs. You will get them unless your disbelief is so great and your lack of belief in yourself and the ability to receive divine support get in the way. Here, too, you can ask for help to surmount it, even if the void seems unfillable and an impassable obstacle to discerning those things we are telling you and what you will be hearing about today. If you want to hear from us, you must reach out. We cannot do it because that would be leading you back to the fold. It is you who are disconnected and must find your way back. It is not as hard as you might think, it is a gulf of disbelief, not an impossible distance that needs to be bridged or even the differing levels of existence trying to get together and commune. You must be in the lead for this to happen and it will at once strengthen and empower you, to do so.
