DWQA QuestionsCategory: MetaphysicsIn the Star Wars movie series, audiences were introduced to the idea and concept of “The Force.” In the very first movie in 1977, the character Obi-Wan-Kenobi said this about “The Force”: “The Force is what gives a Jedi his power. It’s an energy field created by all living things. It surrounds us and penetrates us. It binds the Galaxy together.” Can Creator share both the reality and inspiration behind this iconic notion?

The ability described in this movie is that of intuition, the innate characteristic of the human being, not just specially chosen ones, to tune in to other places, other phenomena, and other sources of consciousness beyond themselves. That, in turn, provides information, awareness, and knowings of great importance to sort out what is happening and provide important information and clues. As a second component, the idea of "The Force" was depicting mind over matter. In essence, the ability to use conscious thought to manipulate the environment in various ways, a phenomenon commonly termed "Telekinesis," such as levitating a spacecraft stuck in a swamp or retrieving a weapon by drawing it to the hand through the power of will directing consciousness to move the object desired. This was a dual recognition of so-called supernatural powers and their place in an advanced world, especially on the part of beings in divine alignment seeking truth, harmony and a rule of love rather than brute force. That was the orientation and intention from within by the originator of the Star Wars screenplays, to depict the triumph of good over evil, at least as a goal if not an actuality, as depicted in the many installments and sequels showing it is not so simple to prevail but requires vigilance and continued effort. So this notion of the Jedi having supernatural powers is reflecting reality in the sense these phenomena exist, although are only present in a meager fashion in physical human beings for the most part.
