Is she correct that they are going to kill her at this rate? Can nothing be done to prevent that fate?

This is what we are working to maintain, to keep her life going, and in that we are successful. It is difficult to count one's blessings when in pain and suffering, but sometimes it is better to have a difficult life than no life at all. Despite the discomfort and unpleasantness of it all, it is serving her in ways she cannot appreciate yet but will be of great benefit down the line. That is not a justification for being manipulated and exploited, but a kind of silver lining as the purpose of human existence is to take on the darkness and solve the problem of evil once and for all. Many will be harmed along the way in that effort, but the end result will far transcend the short-term consequences no matter how grave they seem.
