A fifth type of dementia is associated with limbic-predominant age-related TDP-43 encephalopathy (LATE). LATE causes symptoms similar to Alzheimer’s, including problems with thinking, remembering, and reasoning, but has different underlying causes involving abnormal clusters of the protein TDP-43.
