This is simply reinfestation with new spirit meddler attachments. Due to the high degree of negativity, he is not yet ready to believe in and accept that he can be fully healed and free of torment, and this has put him rather quickly back into a state of vulnerability and this was exploited to have some newcomers that were allowed in. He simply needs another go-round with the Protocol and further requests for protection, and some coaching to encourage him to stand strong here, so this does not happen, and things will get better over time.
