This is a kind of classic example of a troubled person with delusional thinking and a potential for violent action when manipulated to ramp up inner feelings and passion about their plight. When people feel impaired, singled out for mistreatment or in some way harmed unfairly, to their way of thinking, this will be ramped up by the darkness, and some will be manipulated to take matters into their own hands and seek vengeance or retribution of some kind to return the favor in some way to someone they connect with their personal difficulty they can blame for their misfortune. This is how mass shooters and other mass killings come about. Someone gets pushed over the edge because of their fragile makeup from having inner vulnerability, usually a karmic history of victimization or a history as a perpetrator in other lives, quick to anger, find fault, and strike back at perceived foes. Whatever the reason for the heightened emotions, when people are pushed over the edge and exceed the normal boundaries of self-restraint, they may well be willing to commit violence, even murder, because they will feel perfectly entitled to do so, because of their delusional thinking in seeing themselves as martyrs, for example, or perhaps a kind of superhero that will be revered, at least by some.
The fact they are willing to throw their life away, or even take their own life to avoid incarceration, speaks to the extreme of distortion in the way they trade their life for the others they take which does nothing for their dilemma, allowing a less troubled life, but instead are paying an ultimate penalty for their existence, seeing it as too late to change things for the better. That perception of it being truly mental illness on display, with no rational reason, is itself a kind of delusion based on ignorance, if not abnormal mental function, on the part of outside observers. You are simply not seeing the history of what such people have gone through, endured, and been manipulated to distort their inner beliefs, thought patterns, and personal perspectives. It is the hallmark of mental illness to believe in the opposite of the truth, but the sad reality is there are differing truths for differing individuals because of their life experience, even if the key events leading to a tragedy are all internal and not witnessed by third parties. That is the cleverness of the manipulations done purposefully to recruit susceptible individuals to act as minions of the darkness to wreak havoc, spreading carnage, and disheartening surviving witnesses. Things will change for the better only when enough healing has been done to remove the forces of evil creating so many damaged souls.
