DWQA QuestionsCategory: Healing ModalitiesYou said the following about Dr. Gundry’s Total Restore supplement: “We would say that approximately 30% of chronic viral maladies across the board begin with a point of entry in the gut due to the combined hazards of the leaky gut syndrome. So there will be a corresponding prophylactic benefit in using this supplement on a regular basis as a preventive measure for maintaining health by warding off chronic viral illnesses.” Does this deserve to be an official part of the Antiviral Regimen? If so, where would it rank in overall significance?

We regard this as an adjunct, in not being antiviral per se or influencing a viral-caused problem. So this is useful to mention as an ancillary tool, given the percentage of illnesses that commence with an intestinal viral uptake. With diseases caused by viruses being so prevalent, people need to think carefully about their personal risk in going without some extra coverage for this point of vulnerability. We would not sacrifice other nutraceuticals on the list of recommendations, but add it in if it is affordable. The other factor here is that while very useful, it is not an absolute guarantee in preventing intestinal viral uptake, and if people are on the Antiviral Regimen, it may well protect them from having a viral-caused illness even if there is some viral uptake from a leaky gut along the way.
