This, indeed, is the great tragedy of your dilemma. Your questions surround the treatment, discussion, and elucidation of the differentiating characteristics of the sociopath versus the psychopath, always in reference to normal standards of behavior and makeup. In actuality, the defect leading to changes in capability warranting the label of "sociopath" or "psychopath" is much vaster than simply the presence and absence of the conscience. That is the easiest tell because defining the ability to have a conscience is a kind of diagnostic indicator quite accurately reflecting diminished morality. It is the compromising of morality that is the actual defect and problem faced by these unfortunate individuals. Society is filled with examples of people cutting corners, taking chances by overstepping boundaries, even cheating and lying, stealing, and breaking at least minor laws when they know they can get away with it. Such acts are similarly done in the face of a possible consequence brought by the conscience.
The fact people will do such things suggests there are times when the conscience is silent or is simply ignored even when felt. Here, too, is the slippery slope of immorality growing in consequence due to the same quandary of disconnection from the spiritual core. This can wax and wane, come and go, only an issue at certain times, perhaps when there is something else pressuring the person causing stress or a life circumstance causing great inconvenience, loss, or suffering. At such times, people are tempted to find a way out and may break rules to survive, at least in the way they perceive things. The extreme cases like this are when people steal bread because they are starving. They may well do so in the face of their conscience but their conscience gets suppressed to allow it to happen due to the higher priority in the need to survive. So again, morality can be more conditional depending on life circumstances, and this is a question of inner core strength of one’s divine alignment.
The issue of morality extends to almost every arena, and many more situations having a pro or con being considered and acted on to see it is handled in an appropriate and effective fashion. This includes a whole array of mild exploitations and neglect of others, being inconsiderate on through to severe "me first" mentality, exploitation, and even savage competition that could involve a physical altercation to ensure a victory by the person with less moral qualms. The state of your society is quite out of divine alignment in many respects. This is a slippery slope because the longer it goes on and the worse it gets, the more insensitive people become in considering it the norm rather than the exception, and this is a dangerous trajectory that has led to this state of affairs for the extraterrestrials being beyond the pale. There is still time for humanity to right the ship. You have not been totally disconnected and your time in the light happens more frequently than with the extraterrestrials. Humans can still listen to reason, their hearts can be appealed to and raised with hope, and the stirrings of love for the self and others will bring people back into divine alignment more greatly and save them from themselves. This cannot happen with the extraterrestrials, there must be a severe long-term divine intervention fueled by human requests over a great span of time to save them from extinction at their own hands.
