All Ascension involves is that if you are living in the physical, you will ascend in your physical body into the sky and then beyond to a high plane of existence, undergoing further transformation that will be joyous and carried out automatically on your behalf. There is nothing to fear. If you pass away before ascending from the current life, you will be able to ascend from the light once Ascension is underway fully, for humanity as a whole. So you will incur no penalty, whether or not you are in the physical and have a body you are inhabiting.
