DWQA QuestionsCategory: Divine GuidanceDoes smoking marijuana cause a 25% increased risk of heart attack and 42% higher risk of stroke, or were these outcomes, reported in the Journal of the American Heart Association from a recent scientific study of 434,000 people followed over a four-year period, inaccurate for some reason?

The study is a reasonable representation of true downsides of using marijuana recreationally, which, as you know, can become a daily way of life for many people and is true for smoking as well. Although the statistics are showing large percentages, they represent a significant increase on a small subset of individuals who had these adverse outcomes within the four-year period of the study. So it creates a somewhat exaggerated view of the dangers, but they are real and like all such hazards are worth considering in terms of the risks and rewards.
