The Star Wars series of stories is a fair description of the struggle of good versus evil, the potential of divinity as a force for good, fairness, and justice and the role of power when used for evil ends to reward personal gain at the expense of others and to the extent the love of power feeds the ego and becomes a trap taking a being further and further out of divine alignment. So the contrast between the Jedi serving a force for good, with the Sith seeking power and domination over others they might take as slaves or summarily destroy if not bending to their will, creates a harsh contrast between divinity and its absence. The reason that cinematic series resonates so powerfully with your world is that the very same struggle between the light and darkness is all-pervasive throughout your culture in how people treat one another and how groups of people treat other groups, on up to nation states and regional alliances formed to create a safe haven or perhaps a greater power to subjugate and destroy, as the case might be. Your world reflects the imprint of its extraterrestrial controllers who manipulate everything as puppet masters through your governments and those in authority, not realizing they are corrupted and serving a darker force and purpose in what they end up doing, despite possible good intentions by some perhaps at the outset. Over the course of time, people make more and more frequent compromises and truly lose their way in serving dark agendas cleverly devised to undermine and subjugate humanity.
