It will do neither. It is only a self-help exposition of assumptions and wishful thinking. Humans are in a contest with other consciousness and physical beings wanting control over them. When humans have only their imagination and the interlopers can impinge on their energy directly and manipulate them, it is simply no contest. That is why there needs to be a divine participation to level the playing field and bring in enough power to undo the handiwork of the interlopers.
