The dating scene is especially problematic, and even deeply traumatic, for single mothers of all ages. With the divorce rate above 50%, along with the huge number of births happening out of wedlock, it’s reaching the point where more children are being raised by single mothers than are being raised by married cohabiting biological parents. Overwhelmingly, most single men, and more often than that, the more desirable single men, want nothing to do with a single mother. Men, by and large, would rather not raise another man’s children and need to be really incentivized to do so. This is a problem that just seems to keep getting worse, not better. This is so because the majority of successful and compatible men their own age are either already in successful relationships or choose to date much younger (and therefore more attractive) women, sometimes decades younger.
