This is a quite accurate description of how to navigate treacherous waters of the afterlife. Everything that happens will be influenced for better or worse by the vibration of the emerging spirit once they leave the body. This is a continuation of free agency and free will, the birthright of all soul-based beings to chart their own course, make their own decisions, and make their own way, at least until they start bumping into things and causing trouble for others, and then will receive some kind of pushback or resistance, and eventually a reckoning by the Law of Karma to rein them in and stimulate an opportunity to make a course correction in their conduct by giving them a comeuppance to get their attention by way of negative reinforcement.
You might consider this a form of tough love but it can, indeed, be quite harsh. The reality is that spirits possess but feeble physical powers, so a strong mind, a strongly held high vibration, will be quite capable of resisting their influence. That is why they do their worst through insidious and surreptitious manipulations working deep within the mind of the victim until they weaken the person emotionally, and then can play with their mind to instill ever greater fear. It, indeed, is the fear that is the nemesis of everyone in dealing with the darkness. Because it so lowers your vibration, it will weaken you and then you will become less and less effective in representing a counterforce. You will often hear us speak about the need for you to be standing strong and the description in your question is a very good working illustration of why that is important and what it can mean in a confrontation with an evil force, particularly in the spirit realm, where you are dealing with another consciousness with consciousness of your own, and how high your vibration is in comparison to the would-be adversary will usually govern the outcome in terms of who wins out in controlling the situation.
