DWQA QuestionsCategory: Divine GuidanceA viewer asks: “Self-love, despite the word’s wide and sweeping use, remains an elusive, hard-to-pin-down concept. We’ve been taught to direct our love outward. Altruism is prioritized above self-love. It seems that people’s ability to love themselves is quite limited, despite frequent encouragement to do so. Why is this, and apart from the usual urgings to meditate, do small acts of kindness, take time for yourself, etc., what can be done to improve this?” What can Creator tell us?

The teachings of GetWisdom are intended to fill this gap quite directly by encouraging an awareness of the Divine Principles for Living as a replacement for The Ten Commandments. The first is, "Uplift the self without harm to others, and uplift others without harm to the self." That is the general prescription for achieving what your question is recognizing as an inadequacy that is all too common an aspect of the human dilemma. The reason it exists as a deficiency is because of the extraterrestrial manipulation of your world. So many things are done to disempower you as taught by your institutions and your culture. That is what has weakened your ability to honor and support yourself among others. You are taught to be subservient to them and the best way to do that is to teach you to be subservient to those around you. The result is a weakening, in general, that will never serve the self to achieve a balanced approach to life that allows you to be strong and feel contentment about who you are, where you stand, and how you fit in with those around you, in feeling you are an equal, to be treated fairly and with respect. That must be built from within and the first order of business is to heal what has been corrupted to lessen your perspectives and your inner beliefs blocking your ability to summon inner strength more effectively, as a soul attribute all possess.
